Tannson Annual Golf Challenge 2007
The first day of June this year saw the annual Tannson Golf Challenge being eagerly re-contested at Stirling Golf Club. In total 26 of us braved the fairways at Stirling, six of us were from the Tannson ranks with the remaining twenty being made up of Clients, Architects, Engineers and Surveyors.

The weather on the day was excellent (the standard of golf was not) and the day was generally regarded as a great success. The individual prize was won by Jim Young, with the team prize going to Paul Whitson, Neil Jamieson and Andy Mitchell. Jim Young and his partner, Ken Wilkie, tried their best to win the team prize also but were unfortunately dragged down by the poor performance of their third team member - Gary Bushnell!!

Company victors were Hector Milne (although Craig Johnstone had the same number of points) and Robbie Kerr who managed to knock it nearest the pin at the 14th for a prize (or so he told me). Many thanks to all who helped to make the day a success, especially Heather.

Tannson 25th Anniversary
8 December 2006 marked the 25th year of business for Tannson Limited.
Tannson celebrated this event with a party for staff and partners at Dunblane Hydro on 2 December 2006.

School Visit to Stenhousemuir Site
Tannson was approached by Jacquie McArthur of Falkirk Council to arrange a site visit for sixty Primary Six pupils from Stenhousemuir Primary School to our site. Monday 18th June 2007 arrived and the first group of 30 eleven year olds descended on site early morning. Each child signed in at the gatehouse and was handed a high viz vest and hardhat. H&S Manager David Lawson gave a brief presentation on the dangers of building sites and Site Manager Neil Macdonald explained the works followed by a walk around. Both groups enjoyed the visits and the teachers felt this was beneficial as they are working on a project on the benefits the development will give to the community.

Thank you to several companies like Woodside Power for providing hats and T-shirts and Eden Springs for mini-water bottles. A big thank you to CDM Co-ordinator Wendy Weir who put goodie bags together for the kids and Neil for taking the time out to assist.

Silver Anniversary Celebrated With Metsec
As well as being Tannson’s 25th year in business, 2006 also marks a milestone in our relationship with Metsec. We became the Scottish Sales Office of Metsec within weeks of starting up Tannson and have continued this special relationship ever since.

Metsec Plc is the UK’s largest specialist cold-rolled forming company providing products for the UK construction and engineering industries. The company grew strongly after a management buy-out in 1982, later going public and now owned by the Voestalpine Group, one of Europe’s leading specialist engineering companies. Steve Tilsley, one of the original MBO team, is Managing Director of Metsec and leads up their UK activities. Our own Fred Harris represents Metsec in Scotland, selling their full range of purlins, rails and lattice beams. Fred has had a great year hitting a record £2.3 million in purlin sales.

Steve Tilsley presented Tannson with a silver salver to commemerate our special anniversary, during a visit of the Tannon Directors to Metsec Headquarters in Birmingham on 21 February 2006 (photograph l-r: Charlie Veitch, Steve Tilsley (MD Metsec), Mike Tanner, Gary Bushnell, Earl Andrews (Director Metsec).
